Meet the Doctor

Dr. Arminta Phelps

Dr. Arminta Phelps is dedicated to the natural health and wellness of her community.  She completed undergraduate studies at the University of Missouri– Columbia, and earned a doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic-Davenport (the fountainhead of Chiropractic).  She is the owner of Achieve Balance Chiropractic in Columbia, Missouri.

Dr. Phelps’ mission is to help as many people as she can to achieve optimal health and wellness with specific chiropractic care and wellness education.  She incorporates state of the art technology within her practice to ensure the highest quality of care for her practice members in a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere.

As a wellness educator, she consistently provides educational presentations to professional groups, church groups, corporations, and community organizations.  She speaks on various topics such as nervous system integrity, stress, women’s health, 100-year lifestyle, pediatric and children’s health, and preventative care.

Dr. Phelps’ philosophy on health is that God made the body to be a self-regulating, self-maintaining organism that is controlled and regulated by the nervous system. Any interruption in the nervous system diminishes the body's ability to properly function.  Every experience you have is processed through the nervous system. If an interruption, occurs the essence of life is diminished. Doctors of Chiropractic are the only health professionals who detect this interruption, called a Vertebral Subluxation Complex. Our purpose is to inspire, promote and celebrate healthy lifestyles by detecting and correcting Subluxations and guiding our practice members to a better experience of life.

Gwendolen Carl

University of Missouri and Columbia College alumini, Gwendolen Carl, returned to Columbia with her family in 1999.  Since her daughter Arminta Phelps established the practice, Gwen has been honored and excited to be her Chiropractic Assistant.  She loves to share her enthusiasm and knowledge about the power of principled chiropractic. Her own chiropractic story is remarkable.  Diagnosed with MS in 2004, she chose chiropractic care over drug therapy.  She no longer suffers from the fatique or frequent falls that were affecting the quality of her life.
